Baby's Page

1997-2006

Baby was a stray full blooded Rottweiler that we found in our creek bed with a broken leg. We thought we would never get her up the steep embankment with her leg in such terrible shape. But Baby was thrilled to death to see people trying to help her and she was able to do a lot to get herself up the incline. She was extremely obedient and sweet from the beginning.  She was very thin and covered with ticks when we found her. The break was old and the orthopedic surgeon we took her to, said it might cause more harm than good to do the surgery.

Baby was the best dog we have ever had. We never thought of her as a dog. She was a family member and our protector. She loved to meet new people and animals. She would sit for hours watching TV. She loved Animal Planet and most of all The Crocodile Hunter and Jeff Corwin. Snakes, alligators, and crocodiles were her favorites. We can't imagine not having had her in our lives. So if you get the chance to adopt a stray, do. It might be the best companion you ever have. Please remember that a large number of dogs end up homeless and being destroyed in shelters. The Humane Society and Animal Shelters are full of dogs, many of them purebred. Also check with your local veterinary clinics and breed specific rescue groups. There are rescue groups for almost any breed you can think of. Dogs end up in shelters through no fault of their own. They are just wanting for a second chance at a happy life. Please give them that chance.

This is Baby in Aaron's lap when we had only had her a few months. She was probably less than a year then and was very thin, only 50 lbs.

This is Baby home after her long illness and hospitalization at Auburn University.
